• Residents of Cresco, Howard County, Winneshiek County,  and the surrounding area are eligible to fill out an application for a library card.
  
  
• Anyone who wants a library card can ask for an application at the checkout desk.  All persons six years of age or over can complete the application.  Please by prepared to prove residency by showing a picture identification, a canceled envelop sent to your address, or other means of identification.
  
  
• Patrons may use their card to check out books, other library materials, and ask for computer time.
  
  
• Books, kits, and audios can be checked out for three weeks.  DVD’s and videos can be checked out for one week.
  
  
• Items to be returned can be turned in at the checkout desk or placed in the inside drop box.  In addition to these, there is an outside library drop box around the corner from the south entrance door.
  
  
• Items may be renewed either in person or over the phone.
  
  
• A patron will be contacted by mail if they have overdue items.
  
  
• A patron may request an item either in person, by phone, or by e-mail.
  
  
• A patron may put an item on hold it if is not currently available.
  
  
• Fines for late returns are $ .25 per item per day.

Application for a library card must be made at the Cresco Public Library during regular opening hours.  Card needs to be printed in ink and signed.  Proof of address will be required at this time.  An example of the information requested on the application is given below.
